ARTIST: Scy1e

BIO/STATEMENT:
These two long pieces are meant to be experienced linearly, at least within the context of each individual piece, not necessarily as the duo in one sitting.
They are each an excercise in psuedo-static form, structured such that neither exhibits change or explicit movements in a traditionally musical sense,
but follow an underlying set of unheard patterns that dictate behaviors which may be experienced in the close-listened, long term immersion in either work.

The concept/length of these are also a nod to Roger And Heather, who have demonstrated attentive listening beyond the call of duty, as it were,
and I hope they will find much to indulge in within these pieces.

Scy1e (‘Sighwonee”) is a new direction for Raub Roy, also known as Horaflora.

Electronic in nature, the character of Scy1e is more supple, more simpatico, than that of Horaflora.
This music deals in interrelated cycles, or Relabi; "the self-erasing pulse".
Field recordings mingle with limping, stately, rhythms, together forming a rich community of sound.

Raub has performed electroacoustic noise music as horaflora since
He, with partner Dianne Lynn, founded Weird Ear Records, a record label reveling in disparate forms of experimental music.
Their slogan, “The Weird Ear, The Better,” serves as a guideline to the curatorial themes across all of these projects.
Raub is from Western Mass. but has lived in the Bay Area since 2007.
