Bio/statement: "Super Sensitive was recorded in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the end of 2010.

There are four channels of audio, each channel consisting of a looped and manipulated cello drone mixed with one or two field recordings captured on handheld microcasette recorder. Only the open strings of the cello were recorded.

Album Concept/Process: Normally, the Kingston "noise recording" process is live, no overdubs, and only minor dynamic corrections (compression, limiting, etc) afterwards, if needed.

However, for this project, a different strategy was employed; numerous "field recordings" all 5 minutes in length, were recorded within the time of one day. Some of these recordings included S.H. walking out of work, walking through Wal-Mart, a haphazard and a more monitored recording of drumming, singing bowls, sequenced Moog synth, etc. On top of this, a 10 minute or so noise set was recorded. These recordings were all pieced together by Maxwell. The intent was to try and hew something of form out of the amorphous; all the things that were happening around us, both the things planned by us and not.

Perhaps it is not the perfect ashlar, but each consecutive stroke of the mallet to the chisel is one step closer to the Light.

Bio/statement: “Marlo Eggplant is a prominent figure in a thriving and diverse international scene of female experimental music performers. As curator of the pioneering Ladyz in Noyz compilation series, an ongoing project from 2008 to the present, she has helped to foster this scene and continues to promote emerging artists from around the world on her record label Corpus Callosum. With an intuitive command of minimal instrumentation, including processed autoharp and contact microphones, Marlo Eggplant's sparsely structured notes and layered static textures build into sonically dense drone improvisations.

Receiving childhood classical training in voice, guitar, piano, and cello, Marlo began her solo musical career in the 1990s favoring folk and punk, playing local coffee shops and arty hangouts as a teen. When she attended college in the Berkshires, she became more interested in avant garde and bizarre musics. A burst of raw creativity in the early 2000s brought the playful lo-fi pop experiments of the first recordings released under the name Marlo Eggplant, concurrent with her disjointed trance-like drumming as half of the deconstructionist rock duo Hazardous Guadalupe, and her co-founding of the Spleencoffin record label with Timothy Wisniewski in 2003.”

Bio/statement: “CrustStain consists of paired 62-minute microcassette recordings by Wapstan (Martin Sasseville, Montreal, Quebec) and Hal McGee (Gasinesville, Florida). In early 2012 Wapstan recorded random and varied sounds from his daily life in Montreal (including radio and TV and sporting events, machine sounds, minimal electronics, etc.) in collage fashion on a microcassette and mailed it to McGee. McGee listened to Wapstan's tape once through to get the general feeling of the flow of the sounds, and then he set about recording sounds from his daily life, from work, home, streets, restaurants, stores, conversations, etc. After McGee completed his tape he mixed his and Wapstan's tapes together strictly on a one-to-one basis, arbitrarily, creating a happy-accident lo-fi crusty bruitistic dual-track juxtaposition celebration of the mundane drenched in tape hiss audio collage.”
